Office Policies

As fee for service practitioners, our policies protect our time and livelihood. We value your time as well as our own.

  • What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a gentle and effective treatment for everyone, from adults to babies, which emphasizes the body’s ability to heal itself. Osteopathic Manual Practitioners encourage this self-healing capacity through realigning the structures of the body. This form of therapy is a principles-based approach towards assessment and treatment that considers the interrelationships between all systems of the body. These include soft tissues (muscles), hard tissues (bones), fluid mechanics, and the neurovascular supply to all areas of the body.
  • What is Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy is a comprehensive intervention involving a range of techniques to manipulate the soft tissues and joints of the body. The purpose of massage therapy is to prevent, develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain. Massage is the manipulation of the layers of muscle and connective tissue to enhance the function and promote relaxation and well-being. Target tissues may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well as lymphatic vessels.
  • What should I wear to an osteopathic appointment?
Please wear loose fitting clothing that you’ll feel comfortable moving around in and avoid tight pants or skirts/dresses. Treatment is delivered fully clothed and it is important that you are comfortable throughout the session. You will be taking your shoes off, therefore ensure that you are wearing socks, or plan to bring a pair of socks with you. Note, you can change at the clinic if you are not able to wear loose fitting clothing to and from your appointment.
  • What should I do after a Manual Osteopathic Treatment?
Light exercise is okay, like a brisk walk or some light stretching. This will allow the body to adjust to the treatment. Doing any strenuous exercise or heavy lifting immediately following your treatment is not recommended. Drinking plenty of water will help to re-hydrate your body and is always recommended.
  • Is your space accessible?
Yes. There is ample parking in the parking lot. There is an elevator you can take to my third floor office.
  • What are my payment options?
    ● E-transfer (tpoulin.manualtherapy@gmail.com) ● Cash ● Debit ● Direct billing for Green Shield Canada
  • Is Massage and Osteopathy covered by my extended health benefits?
Osteopathy and Massage can be covered by your extended health care benefits, you will need to check your plan or call your provider to confirm that it is covered.
  • What happens if I have to cancel my appointment?
24 hours notice is required to make any changes to your appointment. As a courtesy, you will get a confirmation email 48 hours prior to your scheduled time. All changes, cancellations or rescheduling within 24 hours of your appointment or simply not showing up, will result in a charge of 100% of the treatment cost. Future appointments cannot be scheduled until the outstanding balance is paid.
  • I’m sick. What now?
Please cancel your appointment. If you are sick, manual therapy is not going to make you feel better and could potentially make you feel worse. I know it can be frustrating to miss your appointment. Allow your body the time it needs to heal and rest. Please note the 24-hour cancellation policy still applies in the event of illness or emergency.
