A holistic way to improving your health.

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a gentle and effective treatment for everyone, from adults to babies, which emphasizes the body’s ability to heal itself. Osteopathic Manual Practitioners encourage this self-healing capacity through realigning the structures of the body.

This form of therapy is a principles-based approach towards assessment and treatment that considers the interrelationships between all systems of the body. These include soft tissues (muscles), hard tissues (bones), fluid mechanics, and the neurovascular supply to all areas of the body.

Osteopathic Manual Practitioners operate using the model that imbalances in the body’s structure contribute to the development of disease. Our role is to support the body’s healing by removing these imbalances, facilitating proper nutrition to, and drainage from, the body’s tissues.

Practitioners physically interact with the patient, moving their bodies through multiple ranges of motion, noting restrictions and asymmetries, and applying corrective forces as needed.

Conditions that may benefit from osteopathic care include, but are not limited to:

  • Headaches or migraines

  • Acute or chronic pain

  • Recovery from injuries (new and old)

  • Digestive, circulatory, respiratory and endocrine disturbances

  • Improve body function, flexibility and mobility

  • Postural alignment

  • Pediatric conditions

  • Sleep disturbances

What is Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy is a comprehensive intervention involving a range of techniques to manipulate the soft tissues and joints of the body.  The purpose of massage therapy is to prevent, develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain.

Massage is the manipulation of the layers of muscle and connective tissue to enhance the function and promote relaxation and well-being.  Target tissues may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well as lymphatic vessels.
